Citizens Bank Rewards A's Scholarship - Juniors and Seniors have a chance to earn one of ten Scholarships worth $1,000 each.  Just bring in your report card to any Citizens Bank branch to register.  Each "A" earned allows you a separate chance to enter a drawing to win a scholarship. You may register every nine-weeks.   Drawing will be held and winners announced on June 14th. 

 

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship awards college scholarships to students with leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship.  Students receive $10,000 renewable scholarships – up to $40,000 per student.  Apply online through www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships.  Deadline:  January 10, 2012. 

 

AXA Achievement Scholarship:  A winner in every state.  Scholarships of $10,000 and $25,000.  Apply by December 1.  Larn more and apply online at www.axa-achievement.com.

 

National Peace Essay Contest for H.S. Central Mississippi Ole Miss Rebel Club Scholarship - $1000 scholarships awarded to 15 students.  To be eligible, student must have B average, ACT of 21-28 (inclusive) and demonstrated leadership in school, church, and community.  Recommendation from guidance counselor required.  Deadline is March 8, 2013.  Application forms are available in the counseling office.

 

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program – Awards up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year.  Scholarship deadline is June 14, 2013.  Students must submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of the website:  http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm.  Full details available on website.

 

ESF Get2College Scholarship - Essay competition.  No GPA or test score required.  ESF will award 50 $1,000 scholarships.  Applicants will write an essay of no more than 500 words on the following topic;  "You've just written a 300-page autobiography.  Send us page 217."  Deadline is December 1

 

The University of the South:  Sewanee - Guarisco Scholarship for Art and Art History.  For students who intend to pursue art or art history at the undergraduate level and who have demonstrated extraordinary promise in artistic endeavors. Danforth Scholarship at Washington University in St. Louis - Full or partial scholarships awarded to students who embrace high ideals and whose life choices are guided by personal integrity, selflessness, community commitment, leadership, and academic excellence.  Students must be nominted by their high school.  Seniors interested in this scholarship should see Mrs. Peet.

 

 

2011-2012

National CCAA (Catholic College Admission Association) Scholarship   

Will award 7 graduating high school seniors who attend one of our member institutions in Fall 2012.  Details regarding the scholarship award and how to apply can be found on the websitewww.catholiccollegesonline.org. The application should only take students a few minutes to complete!  The deadline to apply is March 23, 2012, and award recipients will be announced the first week of April.  The list of participating colleges is on the website.

 

 

Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY 2012) Award Program

Recognizes 25 outstanding US scholar athletes in grade 12.  Awards include a  $7,500 scholarship and an opportunity to be pictured in a special Milk Mustache ad in USA TODAY.    Nominees are judged on the following criteria:  academic performance 35%, athletic excellence 35%, leadership 15%, community service 10%, milk experience essay 5%.  Students may apply at www.sammyapplication.com.  Deadline:  March 19.

 

James Doyle Case

Awarded to 2 students with 3.0 or higher GPA to an applicant who is legally blind or to the child of an individual who is legally blind.  Deadline to apply is March 1.  Information available in counseling office.

 

Angel Dolphin Scholarship

Deadline:  March 21, 2012.  $500 award.  Minimum requirements:  1100 SAT or equivalent ACT, 2.7 GPA

The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program-

AES Scholarship

The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students.

 To be eligible the student needs to answer one of the essay questions that they will find on our site at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm.  Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. The Geisinger Scholarship Program at the University of Michigan

Big Sun Scholarship

Helps young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits with an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. Christian Leaders of the Future Scholarship

MAIS Scholarship

 Ten $1000 scholarships will be given. To apply, a student must have a 3.5 GPA and an ACT of 24 or higher.  Application deadline is Feb. 15, 2011.  Selection will be based on Academic Achievement (50%), Extra-curricular Activities/Community Service (15%), Essay (15%), Demonstration of Financial Need (15%).  Applications are available in the counseling office.

Wendy's Heisman Award

The  Wendy's High School Heisman Awards Program recognizes the accomplishments of both male and female senior scholar athletes.  To be eligible a student must possess a cumulative 3.0 GPA (grades 9-11) and participate in at least one school-sponsored sport.  Please come by the counseling office for application information.  Deadline for applying online is Sunday, October 2.

 

Danforth Scholars Program at Washington University in St. Louis

Recipients of this scholarship demonstrate service, leadership, and academic excellence.  Students must be nominated by a counselor or principal.  See college counselor for more information

 

2010-2011

The MS Chapter of the American Nuclear Society

gives two scholarships annually, worth $1,000 each to students who have an interest in working in a field applying nuclear science and technology.   Recipients are chosen based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, a 500 word essay, and letters of recommendation from counselors and/or teachers.  Deadline:  May 1, 2011.  For application and more information:  http://local.ans.org/ms/

Champions for Children

Offers scholarships to high school seniors across the State of Mississippi who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of young people through mentoring. In addition to mentoring at least 100 hours during their senior year of high school, applicants must submit a completed application, including an essay about their mentoring experience. The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program

recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate academic merit and show promise of continued excellence in postsecondary education. This scholarship is not awarded based on financial need. Students interested in applying for the scholarship must complete and submit an application. An official high school transcript must accompany the application or academic record, ACT or SAT scores and an essay entitled: Why I Intend to Go to College. Rotary Mentor Scholarship

Mary Loraine Peets Buffett Scholarship

$5000 scholarship awarded by Southern Miss Alumni Association to female freshman entering the College of Arts and Letters at USM with financial need and a 3.0 GPA.  Essay required.  Deadline is March 15.

Elmo Lang Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to incoming freshman with 3.0 GPA and financial need.  Essay required.  Deadline is March 15.

Central MS Ole Miss Alumni Club Scholarship

The Central MS Ole Miss Alumni Club awards $1000 scholarships to deserving area students with “B” averages and ACT scores of 21-28 (inclusive).  Last year 25 scholarships were awarded.  Scholarships are awarded solely upon merit.  Applications are available in the counseling office and should be postmarked no later than March 12, 2011. AXA Achievement Community Scholarship

Burger King Scholarship

Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians 2010 David G. Hall, M.D. Memorial Scholarship

Essay contest open to all seniors with interest in field of medicine.  Scholarships in the amounts of $1,000, $750, and $500 will be awarded.  Essay of 500 words or less on “The impact of a Family Physician in your life or in your community.”  Only 1 entry per school.  Deadline to turn in essay to school committee is Friday, January 14, 2011.

Optimist International Essay Contest

Official Topic:  How my Education is theKey to a Successful Future.  Essays must be 700-800 words.  Very exact rules must be followed.  All information is available in the counseling office.  Local Prizes range from $100 - $250.  Winners at the local level will be submitted for district and international awards worth up to $6,000.  Deadline to apply is Dec. 31, 2010 with essays due by Jan. 15, 2011.

BigSun Scholarship

The BigSun Organization offers an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. Deadline -  June 24, 2010      Amount of Award  -        $500.00

John C. Stennis Scholarship at MSU
