Great things are happening at Jackson Prep! The Alumni Office is busy planning Alumni Reunion Weekend and I hope to see each of you there.

ALUMNI REUNION WEEKEND

Plans are being finalized for Alumni Reunion Weekend, and all alumni are invited.  The dates are October 20 -21. The classes of 1976, 1985, 1986, 1995 and 1996 will be having their reunions. The fun begins on Friday evening at 5:30 with a Chick-Fil-A supper, gathering spots for each decade, space jump, obstacle course and tattoo painting for children.  There will be a pre-game show by our alumni band members at 6:50.  The alumni art show will be exhibited in the Mary Katherine Loyacono McCravey Art Gallery.  During halftime of the Prep vs. Washington School homecoming game, Thomas Iupe, Class of 1989, will be presented with our Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2006Reunion events continue on Saturday with a picnic on campus for the Classes of 1985, 1986, 1995, and 1996.  A tour of the campus open to all alumni will begin in the Guyton Science Center at 12:30 p.m.  We’d love to see you there!

Jackson Prep’s Alumni Office wants to welcome the babies of alumni.  Each alumni baby can receive a Future Prep Patriot t-shirt and can be pictured wearing the t-shirt on the Class News section of the alumni page of the website.  You can help by keeping us informed about this next generation of Prep Patriots.

Always First Class. . . The Class of 2013, Jackson Prep’s first-ever sixth grade class began with thirty-six students.  Once again, Prep has a large group of students who are children of alumni.  Forty nine students in grades six through twelve continued the legacy begun by their parents.

Football and soccer began their seasons with winning records. Fast pitch softball won the 2006 MPSA Overall championship.   The swim team won the MPSA swim meet for the 34th consecutive year.

CAMPAIGN UPDATE

The Board of Trustees has approved moving forward with a major fundraising effort.  The five-year Investing in Excellence Capital Campaign will address Prep’s most urgent facility and endowment needs.  In order to perpetuate Prep’s standard of excellence and provide the necessary resources for the ever-changing education landscape, our vision is ambitious, yet achievable, with the investment of the entire Prep community.

To ensure that Prep will accomplish its goals, we are beginning to recruit volunteers to share their time and talents with Prep.  If you are interested in joining our volunteer team, please call Jane Roper at 601-932-8106 or e-mail jroper@jacksonprep.net
