Semester Examinations
For 7th through
12 th graders, semester exams are given in December and May and
are designed to be a comprehensive test for the current semester.
Scheduled for two-hour blocks of time, the typical exam lasts ninety
minutes. The minimum time a student
must stay in an exam is one hour.
Exams are computed to count
as twenty percent of the semester grade.
The exam given at the end of the year is a semester exam…not a final
exam. Semester grades are calculated by
adding the first and second term grades twice and adding the number to the
semester exam grade. The total is then
divided by five. This average represents
the first semester grade. Second
semester averages are computed the same way.
Final course grades are determined by averaging the first and second
semester averages.
For semester exams, the
school follows an “exam schedule”. With
this schedule, one exam is given at
Wednesday, December
Thursday, December
Friday, December
The 6th grade
follows a different schedule. They will
have their summary tests over two days, December 13 and 14. On these two days, the school day will begin
