MPSA/MHSAA Athletic Competition

The Mississippi Private School Association and the Mississippi High School Athletic Association have agreed to let their member schools compete against each other in varsity and jr. varsity athletic events. Jackson Prep has plans to play several public schools during the 2007-2008 school year.

The tentative varsity football schedule has been established and includes games with Pearl High School and Newton County High School. The school is now in the process of scheduling other games in other sports, as well.

In short, Jackson Prep plans to schedule public school games for every sport that is played during the same time of the year. That will eliminate some sports. For example, the MPSA plays fast pitch softball in the fall and the MHSAA plays in the spring. Girls’ soccer is played in the fall with the MPSA and the winter with the MHSAA.
