Originally from Jackson, Mrs. Holbert graduated from Jackson Prep and Mississippi College. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree in Voice and a Masters of Music Degree in Conducting.

Mrs. Holbert has consistently led her award winning choirs, madrigal ensembles and showchoirs. Her choirs have performed for President George Bush’s Presidential Inaugural Festivities in Washington, D.C. and for Mississippi Governor Inaugural Festivities in Jackson and in Biloxi for Gov. Ronnie Musgrove and Gov. Haley Barbour.

The showchoirs that Mrs. Holbert has directed have placed first in their division, district-wide, state-wide, regionally and nationally. They have been invited to host showchoir competitions in Hawaii and London.

Her Concert Choirs have performed with the Gulf Coast Symphony and the “Messiah Chorus” in Pass Christian, MS. They have also been invited to present concerts at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Cathedral and St. John the Divine Episcopal Cathedral in New York City, New York.

Mrs. Holbert has most recently taught at Jackson Academy where she led the senior high choir/showchoir and junior high choir/showchoir to become award winning choirs in the three years she was there. The choir program tripled in size during her tenure. She also produced musicals each year with casts of over 150 students. She previously was the Choral Director at Long Beach High School in Long Beach, MS building a successful program with a 90 voice Concert Choir and a 44 voice Showchoir.

Mrs. Holbert is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA), the Mississippi Choral Director’s Association, and the MENC, National Association for Music Education. Mrs. Holbert has served on the Board of Trustees for the Raleigh Chamber Music Guild in Raleigh, NC. She was recognized as the Gulfcoast Teacher of the Year in 2003 by the Naval Oceanographic Office on the Gulf Coast.

Mrs. Holbert is the daughter of Bob and Joanne Pittman of Jackson. She is married to John Holbert, owner of King Industrial Inc., and has three daughters, Joanna, 27, News Editor of the News Commercial in Collins, MS and Editor of a new magazine publication, Our Mississippi ; Sydney Margaret, 24, a graduate of Mississippi College, is in her second year of teaching math in the Clinton Public Schools. Elizabeth, 22, is a Graduate Assistant in Journalism at Ole Miss. She was a scholar athlete who played softball at Ole Miss and was Captain of the team in 2007-08.

Mrs. Holbert and her family are members of First Baptist Church of Jackson.
