Dr. Elizabeth Franklin - Foreign Language Chair/Spanish

Dr. Elizabeth Franklin teaches Spanish II, III and AP Spanish Language at Jackson Prep.
She earned a B.A. in English (1984) from the University of Southern Mississippi, an M.Ed.
in Spanish Education from the University of Mississippi (1990) and a Ph.D. in Educational
Leadership from the University of Mississippi (1998). She received graduate credit in Spanish
at Universidad de Salamanca, in Salamanca, Spain. She taught high school Spanish for six years before beginning twelve years of teaching all levels of Spanish at Holmes Community College in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Dr. Franklin has been teaching at Jackson Prep since fall 2003.

In 2006, Jackson Prep began offering AP Spanish Language, and Dr Franklin was the instructor
of this inaugural class of advanced placement students. She completed certification at a summer AP workshop sponsored by the College Board at Rice University.

Dr. Franklin and her husband, Mark, an attorney practicing in Ridgeland, Mississippi, have three children. Alexandra is a student at the University of Alabama, Ford is studying at Ole Miss and Creed is a Jackson Prep Patriot. The Franklins also have a big black Labrador named Hank and a Himalayan cat, Meg.

Dr. Franklin enjoys reading, practicing her Spanish skills, traveling, eating Mexican food,
running, and spending time at the beach. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of
Jackson and a member of Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church.
