I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Growing up in Clinton, my favorite game was “playing school” and I was always the teacher. As a student at Mississippi College, I knew that I wanted to major in education. The hard part was deciding what I wanted to teach…math, business subjects, or home economics. I decided on business subjects and graduated with a double major in Business Education and Accounting.

Mr. Jesse Howell hired me as a first-year teacher, fresh out of school…and I’ve never left! During my time here I have taught various computer courses, accounting, and business law. I am currently the 9th grade guidance counselor, but also have the privilege of teaching accounting, as well as the computer enrichment class for 6th graders. I also co-sponsor Homecoming. In 2005, I was honored to be named a Metro Jackson Outstanding Teacher.

During my time at Prep, I have earned my Master’s Degree in Business Education, gotten married, and had two beautiful daughters. My husband, Mark, is Deputy Commissioner of Insurance for our state. Our two daughters, Mary Morgan and Molly, are currently Prep students.

Teaching is the perfect job for a wife and mom. I spend most of my time away from school taking care of my family and enjoying my time with them. I also enjoy serving my church, where I teach 7th grade Sunday School. I am currently pursuing another Master’s Degree in Guidance Counseling at Mississippi College.
