Mrs. Laura Lindell, a 1975 graduate of Jackson Prep, begins her twenty-fifth year in the classroom this year. She received her training at Delta State University, where she received a B.S. E. in mathematics in 1979. Over the years, she has taught all levels of junior and senior high mathematics except Calculus, and she currently teaches Trigonometry/Advanced Algebra and Senior Algebra to twelfth graders. She also serves as faculty sponsor for the Precis yearbook.

She and her husband Lee will celebrate their thirtieth wedding anniversary in March, 2009. They are the parents of Brad, a 2003 Prep graduate and current medical student at Vanderbilt University, and Katherine, a member of the senior class of 2009. A rather indulged and spoiled corgi, Sophie, completes the family portrait. The Lindells reside in Jackson and are members of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Lindell enjoys cooking, good humor, walking her dog, and reading. She also enjoys working with students of all ages. She particular has an appreciation for "math phobics" and those students who have had little success in mathematics in the past. Her own experiences have taught her that hard work is the solution to most of these situations, and that there is no greater feeling than to conquer one's fears and succeed at something that was once viewed as impossible. "It is my goal that each student leave my classroom with an appreciation for, if not a love of, the beauty and order that is mathematics."
