PREP PARTICIPATES IN OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Jackson Prep students participated for the 5th year in the Operation Christmas child shoebox program. The junior high students voluntarily collected over 240 boxes. PREP OFFERS ACT/SAT WORKSHOPS

Two ACT/SAT workshops designed to prepare students for college entrance examinations are being offered at Jackson Preparatory School. The workshops provide students with the confidence and skills necessary to score well by familiarizing them with the test format and by teaching test-taking strategies. Experienced teachers will give twelve hours of specific instruction, which includes all areas of the two tests. Participants should bring calculators. All other materials are provided. Students in grades 11 and 12 may select one of two options:

Workshop A (6 Weeknights)
Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31; Feb. 5, 7 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Or

Workshop B (3 Saturdays)
Jan., 12, 19; Feb. 2 10 a.m.-12 noon & 12:30-2:30 p.m.

PREP STUDENTS EXCEL AT STATE CHESS TOURNAMENT

PREP ALUMNI COUNCIL PRESENTS PATRIOT AWARD

Jim Wilkirson, ’81, was honored with the Jackson Prep Patriot Award, excellence never graduates, during halftime festivities at the homecoming game on October 19. This award recognizes significant contributions to one’s community as well as continued involvement in Jackson Prep. PREP QUIZ BOWL TEAM HEADED TO NATIONALS

The Jackson Preparatory School Academic Competition team competed at the Mississippi State Fall Tournament last Saturday against a field of 16 teams from around the state. They achieved a 6-1 record in preliminary play and a perfect score in semifinal play to earn the 1st place trophy. Garrett Taylor earned the 3rd highest individual point total among all competitors. This win qualifies the Prep team for the national tournament this summer. Last summer, Prep’s team placed 9th in the nation in academic competition.
