PREP 2006 NJHS MEMBERS

The Jackson Prep chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is an
academic and service organization. The group recently participated in
the Walk for Diabetes and raised over $1000. The next service project
will be Toys for Tots. Pictured are the ninth grade members and sponsors.

PREP MATHEMETICIANS EXCEL AT ALA TOURNAMENT

Two Jackson Prep students competed against 200 students from Alabama
at the University of Alabama Invitational Math Tournament in early November.
On the written test, Sam Beck placed 3rd and David Zhang placed 9th.
In the team competition, Beck and Zhang were 2nd in their division.
In the ciphering category, senior Beck placed 1st by a large margin,
while sophomore Zhang placed 11th. Pictured (l to r) are: Zhang and

PREP OFFERS ACT/SAT WORKSHOPS

Two ACT/SAT workshops designed to prepare students for college entrance
examinations are being offered at Jackson Preparatory School. The workshops
provide students with the confidence and skills necessary to score well
by familiarizing them with the test format and by teaching test-taking
strategies. Experienced teachers will give twelve hours of specific
instruction, which includes all areas of the two tests. Participants
should bring calculators. All other materials are provided. Students
in grades 11 and 12 may select one of two options:
Workshop A (6 Weeknights) Jan. 4,
9, 18, 22, 25, Feb. 1
6:30-8:30 p.m.
Or
Workshop B (3 Saturdays) Jan, 6, 13, 20
10 – 12 a.m. & 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.
The registration deadline is December 15, 2006. For
information about dates and fees, call Mrs. Jeanne Marie Peet at Jackson
