Achieving Excellence

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. - Aristotle

Jackson Prep’s leadership has adopted a phased approach in structuring its campaign goals. The “Investing in Excellence” Capital Campaign will secure as many of Prep’s long-range goals as possible during this five-year effort. Our goals include vital elements of Prep’s Master Plan, and, with your investment in Prep’s mission, we are sure to celebrate the success of reaching these important milestones.

CAMPAIGN CELEBRATION GOAL | ESTIMATED TOTAL $4.5 MILLION
Enhance Prep’s Facilities

New Cafeteria/Student Center
• Although the facility has served us well for more than 35 years, little in the cafeteria or kitchen has changed since 1971. To ensure a safe and healthy environment for students as they interact with other youth and faculty, Prep must expand this space.

Aesthetic Enhancements to the Campus
• A renovated plaza between the proposed entry pavilions will create a wonderful gateway to the campus. With the successful completion of each campaign goal, Prep will begin to phase in campus-wide projects to enhance landscaping, lighting and the creation of a student plaza, all of which will have significant impact on the overall appearance, safety and aesthetics of the campus. Renovated courtyards will provide beautifully landscaped commons areas for multipurpose usage. As Prep reaches all of its campaign goals, aesthetic enhancements will continue to create a central gathering area at the heart of the campus, enhancing the unity of our entire community and attracting the attention of families considering Prep.

Senior High Renovations
• With the wonderful addition of the Guyton Science Center, classroom space in the High School has been created by relocating classes to the new building. The former science rooms and classrooms not renovated since the ‘79 flood need to be updated to accommodate modern teaching methods, technology and current curriculum needs. Renovating classrooms will allow Prep to provide the very best learning atmosphere. The foreign language programs will greatly benefit from these changes and will directly impact more than half our students on a daily basis. The Guyton Science Center is a shining example of what our facilities can be with your investment.

Athletic Improvements
• All athletes will benefit from our planned improvements. The most urgent need is to renovate and expand the west side of the gymnasium to provide the facilities that our coaches and athletes deserve. Locker room areas are not efficient and need to be upgraded to accommodate the explosive growth in girls’ athletics. As Prep successfully completes each campaign goal, the athletic improvements will greatly enhance the existing facilities and provide additional space for other school programs.

Expand Prep’s Endowments
Faculty Excellence Fund
• The purpose of the Faculty Excellence Fund is to provide funds for professional opportunities for faculty, thereby ensuring high quality and effective teaching. This fund will allow Jackson Prep to increase faculty salaries, provide academic chairs in various departments and supplement faculty and curriculum enrichment programs. Recruiting and retaining the finest faculty members available is of paramount importance. The current endowment is more than $800,000.

Tuition Assistance Fund
• The long-range goal of the Jackson Prep Tuition Assistance Fund is to assist the school in its desire to offer an outstanding college-preparatory education to all deserving students regardless of their financial resources. Jackson Prep has always promoted economic and ethnic diversity within the school community. As tuition continues to increase to cover the rising cost of operating the school, Jackson Prep must rely on new sources of funding for its tuition assistance program. The current endowment is approaching $140,000.

2006-2007 ANNUAL FUND GOAL $300,000
• Because tuition does not cover the total cost of a Jackson Prep education, contributions from the Annual Fund are used to supplement all areas of the educational experience. These donations enhance academics, visual and performing arts, athletics and community service.
